Pear-and-Applesauce

Why limit applesauce to one fruit? Pears pair well with cinnamon too! Serve warm as an accompaniment to pork chops, or enjoy it chilled with cottage cheese and sliced almonds (as a light snack) or by itself, as a dessert.

Ingredients

3 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks

3 medium-sized pears, cored, and cut into chunks

½ cup Cinnamon Keep It Simple Syrup®

Juice of one lemon

¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Directions

1Place the fruit into a large pot. Add the Cinnamon KISS, lemon juice, and salt. Bring to boil over very low heat, stirring every so often. Maintain a low simmer for 20-30 minutes, until the fruit is completely tender and cooked through.

2Carefully transfer to blender or, using an immersion blender, puréethe mixture until desired consistency. Maintain some pieces of fruit to reinforce home-made character. Adjust with additional KISS or lemon juice, as needed, to adjust balance between sweetness and acid.

3Garnish with freshly sliced apples and pears.
