Classic Margarita

April 15, 2018

Margaritas are an undeniable Cinco de Mayo classic. This is a must-have for your fiesta. Start with quality tequila, and be sure to use freshly squeezed lime juice.

3 ounces tequila

2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice

1 ounce Sugar Cane Keep It Simple Syrup

½ to 1 teaspoon triple sec (orange liqueur)

1Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

2Add tequila, lime juice, Sugar Cane KISS and triple sec.

3Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds.

4Moisten the edge of a Margarita glass with a small piece of lime. Invert the glass and dip it onto a plate with a thin layer of kosher salt to rim it with salt.

5Strain the cocktail mixture the salt-rimmed glass.

This frosty, citrusy classic is a staple on Cinco de Mayo. The most popular of all tequila cocktails, it may be modified in countless ways. Frozen or on the rocks, with or without salt, the winning combination of tequila, lime, and a hint of orange stands up to just about any other natural flavor. Experiment by adding anything from fruit nectars to cucumbers, or spice it up with jalapenos. No matter which direction you pursue, be sure to use our classic Sugar Cane KISS to keep it sweet and keep it simple.
