Mexican Hot Chocolate

Get your mugs ready! This one is sure to provide warmth on a cold evening. Hot chocolate, with vanilla, peppery-hot cinnamon – and of course, tequila!


1 cup whole milk

1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

2 oz. Cinnamon Keep It Simple Syrup®

2 oz. tequila

½ teaspoon natural vanilla extract


1Whisk together milk and cocoa powder over low heat until mixture is fully blended and reaches a slow boil.

2Remove from heat.

3Add KISS, tequila, and vanilla extract.

4Stir well.

5Pour into mug and top with Cinnamon-kissed Whipped Cream (optional; see recipe).

6Serve with cinnamon stick or a spoon to suggest stirring.

Spices set traditional chocolate apart from Mexican chocolate. Vanilla and peppery-hot cinnamon add smooth, gentle warmth and a spicy bite. Heat it up with some tequila and whipped cream for a super yummy, festive treat.
